Mosaic -- Mosaic: A Reading Comprehension Strategies Email Group

About Mosaic
English (USA)

Welcome to the Mosaic@literacyworkshop.org Email Group!

Hello. We are glad you are going to subscribe (below)!

Our conversations revolve around the work from Mosaic of Thought, Strategies That Work, I Read It But I Don't Get It, Reading With Meaning, Do I Really Have to Teach Reading?, and Learning Along the Way. Feel free to lurk and just learn by reading what others post, or be brave and write about any of the following focus points:
-comprehension strategy instruction
-questions about implementation
-action research conducted by teachers based on experiences in
strategy teaching
-reading workshop
-authentic assessment
-strategy instruction as it relates to high stakes testing
-professional reading suggestions/reflections to continue our learning
process
-lesson write ups/book suggestions
-parent training
-online book talks related to comprehension teaching

Our membership is open to any teacher who wants to hear from others teaching reading comprehension this way. There are many excellent mail groups for teachers, but ours specifically concentrates on helping students become strategic, thoughtful readers. It is our hope that we can stay true to our original intent and purposes.

We do ask that in your subject line you ALWAYS reflect the actual content of your post. This is best done by starting a new email yourself to the group(mosaic@literacyworkshop.org) or by changing the subject line yourself if you reply to the group. That way we can all quickly see the topic of the posting. When you sign your name could you also put what grade level you teach? We think that would be helpful as well.
