Another use is with kids that have OT. I have a student who is
unable to write clearly due to OT. I have used it with him to record
his writing and then I transcribe it from the iPod at my break time.
This way I am not occupied with him the whole writing block. Then he
can revise and read it again.
Does your school get federal dollars to support your needs? Check
with your principal to see if this can be used to help with this.
Start small, a few per grade level or even in the school. I
presently have mine through the IT department in the district as a
pilot, but they will be collecting them when they need them. (Hoping
they don't need them anytime soon!!!!!) I am waiting to hear about
the Best Buy grant (you would have to wait till next years grant
cycle. It also has to be a program in place, so if you can get a few
to start with that is how it is "in place".) Go to Best Buy and
Circuit City to see if they can offer you a local store "grant"
possibly to donate 1 iPod.
Just some ideas,
Julie:O)
