Ellin,
I echo Joy's sentiments! I would add what my kids say when the light bulb  
goes on, "I get it now". We all get it now...teachers, parents and kids. Isn't  
that what it's all about! 
 
I used to get lots of parents tell me that their kids were great  readers but 
they were merely word callers. Just last week I had a parent  vounteer (whose 
kid could fit in that category) tell me after working with her  own child at 
home tell me that her daughter had no clue what she had just read  and that 
they had to go back and determine which parts of the chapter were  the most 
important so she could get the big idea. Times are a changing!
