I tell my parents the same thing. Commercials are perfect time for
predictions--what happens next?

Subject: [MOSAIC] Parent questions

I have so many parents who don't read any more than their children do, that
I finally suggested they discuss the TV shows and movies they watch. They
can easily practice reading skills that way. I have found more cooperation
from these parents with this than with books. I suggested the same things I

would have said for books:
Discuss the main idea. Make predictions: What do you think will happen next?

Why did the character do that? At least they start thinking and talking.
So many of my kids are just couch potatoes in that they watch and don't
think!
