[MOSAIC] Question for the group

Oh, YES!!  I so agree with this Ann, and also what
Lori said about her sons' reading habits.  Parents are
always surprised when I tell them that their kids may
include some internet reading on their home logs.  And
I think this totally makes the case for what we
discuss on this list...reading workshop and
strategies.  IMO, kids are so much more motivated when
they understand the strategies especially when they
are embedded in a well run workshop environment
because the strategic reading is so much more engaging
and active!

Unfortunately, we run into some reading snobs at the
elementary level as well.  I had a teacher tell me she
thought it was wrong that I had Captain Underpants in
my 3rd grade library.  She said it was our job to
steer the kids towards GOOD literature.  Let's just
say we agreed to disagree.  :o)
