I think any non-fiction book is great to use for questioning. Last year, I had second grade and we were doing a thematic unit on American history for social studies. I did a ton of integration with language arts and part of the success was having them ask/answer questions about a variety of biographies on famous historical figures (Squanto, Columbus, Washington, Lincoln, Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman....). They were VERY curious about the people we were studying, I was killing two birds with one stone through the integration, and they really "got" the strategy and it's purpose.
