I teach second grade, read the Daily Five and loved it; however, the things I use most from the book are the procedural lessons in getting ready for a reader's workshop. It was amazing how much easier (and more successful) it was to "train" the kids for this very important time by using their lessons. I don't use the Daily Five rotations during reader's workshop...just the procedural lessons.

I would like some advice on a title that I have heard and read about.
The Daily Five sounds interesting, but I wanted some feedback on how
well it works with 2nd grade. Elementary is such a wide span. What do
  you recommend for teaching non-fiction.

  Thanks,
  Kathleen
