[MOSAIC] starting the year with non-fiction

There was a recent study onwhat primary grade kids
prefer to read and guess what----they prefer
NONFICTION.  Students were given the freedom to select
 books for reading.  Students chose nonfiction books! 
The authors suggest that perhaps the pedagogy of using
story books is done to focus on story elements.  The
study is on ERIC.
