In Virginia Beach each elementary school has a full time reading specialist who is serving as the Literacy Coach. Depending upon the school needs and administration input, we meet remediation needs as well as coaching (lead teacher) in Language Arts.
I feel very lucky indeed to be in a school where we make decisions based upon school need (which may every few months). This year we have a lot a new students to our school, and the remediation needs are great. As a result, I spend probably 3/4's of my day in remediation. I have really enjoyed reconnecting with students in need. I LOVE MY JOB!!!

>>Hi Amy.
>>How many specialists are in your building/district that allows you to have that much time? I'd love to know how you make that work!!

>>We meet with our groups 3-5 times a week for 40 minutes. Scheduling is very tough! Sometimes one student will have to miss because of conflicts.
