That's what I found about HM when I was in elem. HM has you teach one
different strategy per week. Another thing about the text is that even
though they don't chop up a story, the illustrations don't match the text
often. They move the illustrations around to fit in the anthology. If you
look at the original book, the illustrations match the text, so the kids can
use the illustrations as cues to access the print. I was not allowed to
improvise. I was told to teach by pacing guide to be kept by date. I
actually decided to change to middle school because of the experience.
Hopefully, you will have the freedom to add or subtract to the program as
you feel is appropriate.
