Hi!
In Florida we have a great online reading program. www.fcatexplorer.com I
enrolled all my classes and the students love it. For 9th graders I use the
8th grade and for the rest I use the 10th grade. There is another software
READ 180 that most of the low-performing schools use. You school will have
to buy it, though. Probably you want to use web based resources. You can
divide your class into 3 groups to give all your students access to the
computer. You can use any newspaper online www.CBSnews.com; www.usatoday.com
. Select an article, give them a sheet with the 5 questions reporters use,
rewrite the article o use a RAFT ( role of the writer, audience, format,
topic + strong verb) from CRISS strategies http://digisys.net/criss . Also,
class group projects with a technology component, power point presentations
on any literary reading (The Language of Literature, McDougal Littell) or
novel, research projects. I teach Language Arts and Reading to ESOL
students. I developed book reports and research projects that students use
the internet , but can't copy and paste. Hope this helps.
