I have a question about DIBELS. I have been using the progress monitoring
reading passages and have run out. What do I do now?

I was fortunate enough to go to the Dibels training and mentor training.
Sadly this tool was to be used as a screener only to identify at-risk
readers ~ and ONE tool of a comprehensive assessment package for students ~
never to replace running records, comprehension and discussion. Sounds like
in many places it is the driving assessment.
Its value for us is to check each of the stepping stones towards reading (
phonemic awareness, alphabetic principal and fluency in connected text).
Used for what it is meant to do is valuable ~ we conference with the team
about the readers at risk regularly and make sure that other pieces are in
place for comprehension.
