Shelley Harwayne did professional development in our school for several
years.... she is not didatic or scripted as you might find with some of the TC
presenters but has the essence of childhood and the form and function of
writing workshop down... it is a more individualized and kid friendly way to
approach writing workshop. In my opinion you need both a child-centered philosophy
that you keep ever present as you go through the rudiments of
mini-lessons..... Shelley combined with anyone from TC (Carl Anderson, perhaps) would be two
good choices.

My school division is grades 1-4. We are interested in finding a good
writing workshop leader who might come for a professional day. We are in
North Carolina. Does anyone have a suggestion about something they have
heard or worked with and felt was a great and inspiring leader?
Thanks,
Mary
