Hi Rosie,

I am third grade too, and have the same restrictions as you - we are Reading First. I have played with differentiating a lot and I have the low students, too. I have 8 stations, 4 are for 15 minutes, and 4 are for 25. I do have help.

For reader's theater (fluency) - 15 min. I have 2 different reading levels of scripts to practice.

For word work (15) , the low kids work with cards and the higher students don't need as many hands on (ex. ABC order - low kids use cards before the work sheet, higher students do not need to manupulate the cards first)

Independent reading (15) - I use leveled trade books, this is assigned independent reading.

Computer (15) - I use websites that has different levels of difficulty (ex. gamequarium)

Word Work (20) - phonics skill of week, with variety on paper / pencil followup,

Poetry (20) - poems are at different reading levels, but children to need to do a comprehension activity and find wondrous words (which they look up)

Guided Reading (20) I use the leveled readers

Comprehension (20) - I get leveled passages from Ed Helper.

I will be changing throughout the year.

I use a lot of sites for help
http://www.busyteacherscafe.com/unit.htm:

Miss Campioli: http://www.misscampioni.com/Teachers%20Main%20Page.htm

There are so many other sites.

Hope this helps.
