[MOSAIC] Making Meaning

When I first looked at this program, I was disappointed by the lack of
non fiction.  Do you use this exclusively as your explicit instruction?
Or do you allow / encourage additional units of study?

To Carol - and others:

Making Meaning has tons of non-fiction!  I double checked this with two
of my teachers - one in 2nd and one in 4th - and they both concurred.
Second grade has lots of fun NF - like a book about bubbles.  The 4th
grade teacher says her kit has approximately 1/3 NF.  Out of 27 titles
there are 9 NF.  Her words: "I think Making Meaning does a great job of
providing read alouds reflective of a variety of genres, especially NF."
I have also looked through the 7th and 8th grade kits and they have lots
and lots of poetry.
