[MOSAIC] texts to teach connections

Carol,
I personally think that to teach connections best, you need books that you personally connect with. Then choose books that your students can connect with. I'm sure this isn't all that helpful, but to make honest connections, I have to pick up a book that I truly connect with. I like to use The Keeping Quilt by Patricia Polacco, Chrysanthemum and Owen by Kevin Henkes for personal connections. I like to pick NF books that the kids already have some schema for and then show them how to build on that by reading more on the topic...hope this helps.
