I guess this is all about deep content knowledge and teaching for  
understanding. When the discussion moved from particular programs (ie Every Day  Math) 
to the nature of teaching for understanding and what it might take to do  so, 
we, to me, moved from off topic to way on topic, especially if you have been  
reading ellin's latest book. 
 
You may be crochety today, but you are one smart lady! ;-)
