[MOSAIC] digest burden

I have to agree 100%. There are many days when I am so busy that I end up deleting the entire digest because I don't have the time to wade through all the muck and figure out who's replying to what. It's too bad, because I know I miss out on some good discussions. I have a thought and possible solution, but I'm not technical, so the moderators would have to decide if it's possible.

When I receive the digest, there's a topic list before the messages start - this is nice, because I can quickly look to see if I'm interested in reading further. The problem, though, is when (for instance) there are 20 posts and I'm only interested in one topic, which is covered in (for example) posts 2, 8, 9, 15, and 19. So I want to scroll down to read the 2nd post (and then the 8th, and so on) but sometimes people have replied to a digest without deleting all the messages, so to read it in order, you'd be rereading a bunch that you already read - like a digest within a digest. For example, it might go something like: message 1, 2, (1), 3, 4, 5, (1, 2, 3, 4), with the messages in parenthesis being repeats that weren't deleted from someone's reply. Trying to quickly scroll through it is cofusing, because when you stop and see message 4, you don't know if you still have to scroll through messages 5-7 to get to the message 8 that you want, or if you've
gone too far and are reading (for example) message 11, which happens to contain all of the digest messages in it because someone didn't delete before hitting send.

My suggested solution, if possible - can the topic lists at the beginning include a link that brings you right to that message and then a "back to top" button? I subscribe to the FlyLady digest and it's like this - I think all the yahoo group digests are like this. I don't know if it's possible to do that with this group, even though it's not a yahoo group.

Just a thought...

:-) Pamela
