Thank you everyone for responding to my thoughts on the grading dilemma.  I appreciated the empathy and the idea to check out Deb's rubric, which I am going to do right now.
 
Good time to tell you all that you are very much a part of my 'inner circle' of teaching friends, despite the fact that I probably will never meet any of you personally.  I glean much wisdom and comfort from simply reading all your thoughts about the world we live in.
