Lisa,
I ran an intergenerational book club for seventh graders and an adult
partner. We read The Schwa Was Here and it was a real hit!! Author is Neal
Shusterman.

Hi,
I was just chosen to be the Literacy Coach/Reading Instructional Support
Teacher/Gifted and Talented Teacher at my charter school (K-7 this year, going
K-8 next year). One of my new responsibilities will be to teach an elective
to middle school students and my Assistant Principal suggested a book club.
The problem is that even though there is a push for G/T at my school, I
haven't had a chance to see if the children are truly gifted or if they are highly
able and not being challenged, which can make choosing a book tricky.
I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good 6th-7th grade novel for a
first choice in the book club since I will need to order before school starts
without knowing who my students will be. The expected size will be 9-15
students at the most.
Thanks
Lisa
