Spring 2009 Information

Pay Project Fee by March 31
We are requesting a $15 donation to The Literacy Workshop for each class (30 students) you register. Teachers wanting to enroll several classrooms will be asked to divide their students into groups of about 30 students.

Post “About Our Classroom”
by April 11

All participating classrooms need to post a first blog message that provides information about their classroom. This can include like grade level, size of class and school, number of boys and girls in the classroom, favorite authors, poetry styles/genres studied, etc.

Post Student Poetry by May 10
Post all of your student poetry to your blog. You will be able to copy and paste. Please follow any security rules for students that your school may have in place (i.e. only first name and last initial, no images that might serve to identify students).

Comment on Poetry by May 31
Throughout the project students and teachers will be able to read all posted poems and comment on them. Teachers will receive notification when a comment has been added, and have the ability to delete or edit any inappropriate comments.

Project Archived on June 30
All access to posting poems and comments is closed. The poetry slam will be archived through the end of the school year.
