In The Eyes of One To Care

Filed under: Uncategorized — cpmfarnum @ 1:48 pm

Our world is ever changing
It’s getting warmer here and there
Something’s to be done
In the eyes of one to care

The habitats are disappearing
We are changing nature’s ways
The animals are losing land
Their life is limited by the days

Look at those poor polar bears
Flosating on the blocks of ice
The glaciers are melting fast
We need to learn to be nice

Stop those bulldosers!
They are tearing away the land
Let the rainforest be
Now do you understand?

Join my protest
Help the earth
We are losing nature
So find out its worth

Our world is ever-changing
Its getting warmer here and there
Something’s to be done
In the eyes of one to care

Dreams by Hannah

When you shoot you score

When you score you are getting a little bit closer to your dreams

When the reff gives you a red or yellow card because you were fighting with him

There is really nothing you can do about that

When you throw the ball in you are throwing your dreams out into the open and are almost there

When you have a goal kickand you are about to launch it over peoples heads

You are making your dream happen by trying harder

When you score that winning goal you have acomplished your goal

By trying hard

Coffee and the Monkey by: Axel Reed

Filed under: Uncategorized — cpmfarnum @ 3:04 pm

There once was a dog named Coffee

Who was indeed very fluffy

He had a friend who was a monkey

And was a little bit of a toughie.

Coffee did not like that

‘Cause the monkey would be kind of mean

Coffee then barked, “You’re a brat!”

Then his friend came back with, “You’re just caffeine!”

Then Coffee and the monkey were no longer friends

And they wouldn’t even say hi when they walked by

So the monkey got a new best friend

Then Coffee got sad and wanted to cry.

One day Coffee apologized to the monkey

And said he didn’t know what he was thinking

So they decided to agree

That their friendship could get through anything.

The Future by Natalia

Filed under: Uncategorized — cpmfarnum @ 3:27 pm

Today is the present,

Yesterday is the past,

Tomorrow is the future,

And boy, it’s comin’ fast.

” I believe the children are the future,

Teach them well and them lead the way”.

This is a great way to summarize my feelings,

Given that I am a child, that is the way I shall say.

The way we live now

will lead us into the future.

Everyday, every laugh,

These are the times we should capture.

” Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take,

But by the moments that take our breath away”.

Whether it’s an up or down,

Hopefully, you will find a highway.

No matter what happens,

We live, we die.

Everyday

We laugh, we cry.

Jimmy V once said everyday we should do three things,

Cry, think, and laugh.

Now if you do these things, you should have a full day.

I have to agree on his behalf.

Today is the present,

Yesterday is the past,

Tomorrow is the future,

And boy, it’s comin’ fast.

My Friends Forever

My Friends Forever

by Alissa W.

My friends will never fade,
Therefore I can be a made.
Before the end I will just defend,
But I will not ever pretend.

For me myself and I,
To the moments when I just cry.
I don’t try hard to tell who I am,
Because I love what I can.

Forever my friends are there for me,
We love to all act like we’re free.
I’d love to see, all my friends go crazy,
Because we are in the mits of a huge forest maze.

We are very excited to join this online poetry slam for the second year!

Our sixth graders participate in a poetry unit which requires all students to go through several “initiation” stages and earn a membership into the “Cardinal Poet Society”. In addition, students participate in a poetry jam - we literally jam out while reading poetry with the help of a local guitarist, drums, bongos, and visual effects. Each of the students selected to join this project stands out a talented poet. They would like to share some of the concrete, limerick, couplet, quatrain, ballad, narrative, mood and free verse poems as they write them during our unit. We are all eager to read the poetry shared by other students across the nation through this project and hope to grow as poets through this experience.
