Peace

My dream is to bring back Dr. Martin Luther King,

just to read this poem.

My dream is that all wars ended,

and all hearts opened.

My dream is to rewind time,

and warn New York City about 911.

My dream is that there are no gangs,

no guns, no murder, and no racism.

Then the world will live in peace.

My dream is to make this dream come true.

Too Young to Wonder

I wonder if I was a boy,

Would people act differently towards me?

Would they let me play on the football team?

Would they give me a chance to show I can beat the boys?

I wonder about my family in Chicago.

Are they OK?

Is my mom still on her healthy diet?

I wonder about my future.

Will I become a famous singer or dancer?

Will I ever have a family of my own to take care of?

I wonder about so many things,

I could write a book.

I guess I’ll just have to wait

To see what happens in my life.

Seeing You Makes Me Wonder

I see you in my dreams
I see you in my life
I wonder every day who is
This person in my life
Then I think for a minute
Have I let go of all the pain and sorrow
I think I can make a new and better tomorrow
Now I’ve let go and I don’t see you again
But I miss you and want you back
I think every day of my everlasting life
Now I’ve let go and let you know who takes that price
I’ll let Him handle all the negative
And I’ll just take in the positive
It’s God!

Everglades

So quiet at night
So beautiful looking at the stars
Thinking of pleasant thoughts
Pondering how stars are made
So quiet and peaceful
As if I was on earth alone
So quiet and relaxing
As if I was a sleeping baby
Floating on a boat
Surrounded with fresh, clear water
As I listen to the crickets chirping
As I listen to the egrets splashing
I think to myself
How the world is full of chaos
But still holds goodness
As I imagine
As I dream
I think to myself
How pleasant the Everglades really are

Blue

Blue is like the sound of the ocean waves
When they crash on the shore

Blue is like the smell of blueberry muffins
When they’re freshly baked out of the oven.

Blue is like the taste of cotton candy
When it melts in your mouth.

Blue is like the feel of squishy blueberries in a field
When you squish them in your hand.

Yellow

Yellow is like the sound of birds flapping their wings in the yellow sunlight.
Yellow is like the smell of a soft petaled yellow daisy in the dark night sky.
Yellow is like the taste of a yummy yellow sunnyside up egg for breakfast.
Yellow is like the feel of a soft yellow chick in a soft woodchip nest.

My Special Heart

My eyes are shining stars
In the middle of the night.

My dreams are big, huge clouds
With colorful rainbows and flying unicorns.

My smile is a white pearl necklace
With glittering diamonds.

My heart is a big apple tree
With many branches
And many apples.
A heart is carved on the trunk:
Forever respect,
Forever forgiveness,
Forever honesty,
And forever love.

Me, A Special Person

My hair is a wavy ocean
When the wind is blowing.

My eyes are little dark brown almonds
In a candy shop window.

My feet are as fast as a cheetah
Running through the jungle.

My smile is as shiny as the stars
Shining from the north in the dark blue sky.

My dreams are as big as clouds
Floating in the sky.

My heart is as juicy as
Sour blueberry gum.

My Mom

My mom is the sun because
She shines like a star.

My mom is a guardian angel
That protects me from the bad.

My mom’s eyes are magnifying glasses
That watch over me with a shield.

My mom’s hair is like a wavy, wavy
Plum glazed ocean
Waiting to be softly touched.

My mom’s advice is like a beautiful, golden medal
That always says:
Stay strong
Never give up
Don’t ever be scared
And always do your best.

My mom’s name, Mona
Is like a whisper in my ear
That says softly
Never be afraid,
Never be afraid
OK? OK?

Baby blue is the sound of a blue butterfly
Flapping its wings in the sky.

Baby blue is the smell
Of a tasty blueberry flavored lollipop.

Baby blue is the taste of a blueberry muffin
When you put it in your mouth.

Baby blue is the feel of a soft pillow
When you lay down on it at night.
