Bottle of Sand
In 2006 I took a trip
to Cape May.
I had a lot of fun
dancing, tanning, shopping.
I bought a bottle of water
and filled it up with sand.
Now I keep it in my room
so I will always remember Cape May.

Family roots are
stuck firmly in the
ground.
No storm can
wash them away.
Yet some friend’s
roots will loosen,
drifting
drifting
farther
away
from
you.

School is like a jail
You’re locked up all day
School is like being a journalist
You write ’til your hands cramp
School is like being brainwashed
You sit while teachers fill your brain
See all the bad things that come from IT!

WINTER
Evil blizzard storm
Attacking from everywhere
Not showing mercy
Will I find my way home
Snow and winds won’t let me go.
SPRING
Now comes the harsh rain
Hits and beats down on us all
Wetting the world
All the water blurs the sky
It’s hard to get outside.
SUMMER
The sun shows its strength
Boasting “I am very strong”
But you must beware
For you will be red and burned
You will feel the sun’s pain.
FALL
Harsh winds
Try to blow me away
Sending a chill down my spine
Better be careful before
The wind sends me flying.

TVs without wires.
Cars without tires.
A park without a bench.
A plumber without a wrench.
A tree without leaves.
A hive without bees.
A girl without a purse.
A doctor without a nurse.
A toddler without a trike.
Me without my bike.

They call my name
For me to bat.
I step up with hope.
The pitcher throws the ball
A little low.
Strike one.
He throws it again,
Curveball,
Strike two.
The crowd goes silent.
He throws it one last time
Right down the midele.
CRACK!
The ball soars over the pitcher,
Over the second baseman,
Over the center fielder.
It’s
Outta here.

I dribble the ball down the field
creating a breakaway.
Parents and temmates cheer,
Sweat drips down my face.
Keep on going.
Go! Go!
Pass the eighteen now,
Aiming for anywhere
in the net
besides at the goalie.
MAN ON!!!
Rush the ball through the air
And right into
The goalie’s hands.

Everyone hocks.
Everyone spits.
Nobody dreams
to live in Shangai.
There’s nowhere to go
without a street.
You’re nowhere near
to green grass.
There’s not a street
without a car.
There’s not a road
without a person.
There is no house.
There is no quiet.
There is no wonderful life
living in Shanghai.

When you find the place filled with
vibrant colors and
unthinkable rooms,
you’ve found my
imagination.
Find the place that’s not on the map
and you’ve found my imagination.
Twisting roads and winding paths fill my
imagination.
You’ll never find you way
in,
out,
to
or through
my
imagination.
