Out at Home Plate

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

As I crouch down
Waiting for the pitch.
The bases are loaded.
The pitch comes.
It’s a high one.
And I miss it.
The guy on 3rd base runs home.
I grab the ball and run too.
I get there first.
He slides.
And his foot hits my glove.
The umpire calls him out!
My team runs in from the field.
And we celebrate.

The Winning Catch

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

I go out in to the field,
it’s the bottom of the sixth
there are two outs
and the bases are loaded
and we’re up.

Their best hitter is up for bat,
he smacks the ball
and it heads straight for me!

I quickly put up my glove
and the next thing I know
the ball is in my glove,
we’ve won the game!

Unimaginable

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

The first time
I saw it,
was a day
I’ll never forget.

The bright lights,
the big sign,
all the anxious people
we wait
to get in.

I can hear all the fans,
and see the players,
ready to play.

I can’t believe,
I,
Mallory Ann,
get to see
Derek Lee,
the Cub’s first baseman.

Beyond belief,
me,
at an acutal
Major league baseball game.

The Cubs are visitors,
so they bat first.
They get two men on,
Ramierz ends it,
by grounding out.

The Cubs take the field,
and get one run scored on them.

It’s now
the top of the seventh,
Derek Lee’s up to bat.
The crowed is calm,
the pitcher gets ready,
and throws the ball.
Smack!!!!!
Home run!
The fans
erupt.

It’s the bottom
of the ninth,
and the Cubs
are losing.

Unfortunately,
there’s nothing
they can do
about it.

The Cubs lose.

What a shame!
