Greetings to all students and teachers who will be reading this. As you may know, we have been video-conferencing using SKYPE with Bill Ivey from Stoneleigh-Burnham School in Massachusetts. Bill introduced us to Keith Mack and this Poetry endeavor. Bill also taught my students (and me) what a cinquain poem is. If you click here you can see samples by several of my students.

One of the rules at our school is that we do not want our students’ names to be on the Web, just initials. But if we video-conference with you or swap e-mails, then of course we would prefer to use names! You can click here to see pictures of our school.

We are an Independent School in Harlem, grades preK to 8 with about 17 students in every grade. This year, we started a program called “Tech Saturdays in Harlem” which attempts to give free computers to families. You can read about this by clicking here.

Our seventh grade girls are part of a group called “Women’s Mentoring” and one of their projects involves producing art work that is then sold to people in NYC to raise money for our school since there is no tuition here. You can click here here to see their art work.

There are 11 girls in grade 7. Initials are ACC | DSHR | JKL | KMO | LCR | MAN | NJLF | NPD | NTH | ONT |TAM

Our seventh grade boys do the same thing as part of “Men’s Mentoring” and you can click here to see their artwork. There are 6 boys in grade 7. Initials are: AQF | DTW | JLA | KEP | RKC | SJA

We at The Children’s Storefront are looking forward to getting to know all of you at your various schools. Our seventh graders have their own e-mail accounts and as we move into April and May, I would love to get involved in an e-mail exchange. We are currently on Spring break and we resume on Monday, March 31st.
