Ode To A Hair-Tie
Bundling strands together,
and keeping them off my face.
Like a fence forcing away
unwanted
guests,
loose pieces being kept away.
Stretchy elastics expand forever!
farther and
farther and
farther again.
behind your ears
the band of elastic;
secures your hair.
keeping hair
off
of
my shoulders,
and out of my mouth and eyes.
They come in endless colors,
shades and
styles;
green,
blue,
red,
pink,
purple,
orange,
thin or thick.
different materials,
ribbons and bows
(can never match up…)

Oh, how you keep
my pants up.
Waiting to be put on
in the morning.
